Former Crime Branch SP named accused in Sister Abhaya case
KT Michael, a former Crime Branch SP who was part of the investigation team in the sensational sister Abhaya case, has been named accused in the case. The move comes after a directive by a special CBI court.
According to the FIR, KT Michael has been accused of destroying the evidences and trying to help the real culprits escape from the clutches of the law.
The CBI court directed Michel to be named as an accused in the case after Jomon Puthenpurackal, a social worker, approached the court seeking to add the names of those who tried to destroy the evidence in the FIR.
The others accused in the case, which dated back to March 27, 1992, are father Thomas M Kottur, father Dr Jose Puthrukkayil and sister Stephy. Sister Abhaya was found dead inside St Pius Convent in Kottayam.
