Sreejith was mistakenly taken into custody, says report
The investigation team looking into the alleged custodial death of Sreejith in Varappuzha has confirmed that he was mistakenly taken into custody by the police. The police are interrogating those who were taken into custody along with Sreejith in connection with the case of attacking a man at his home in Varappuzha.
It is learnt that the police will register the first arrest in the case today.
According to the report, Sreejith was taken into custody based on false information. In connection with the case, an RTF staff was questioned by the probe team along with the other people who were taken into custody in connection with the case.
The investigation team confirmed that Sreejith was mistakenly taken into custody after collecting statements including that of the complainant in the house attack case and looking into the documents related with the case.
The probe team has found out that the RTF took Sreejith and his brother into custody as per the false information given by Ganeshan, brother of late Vasudevan whose house was attacked. Meanwhile, the police are still interrogating those who were taken into custody in connection with the house attack case at the Aluva police club. Their statements, as they witnessed the torture endured by Sreejith in police custody, are vital in the case.
