2-storey building collapses in Palakkad; Many feared trapped inside debris

Many people are feared to be trapped inside the debris after a two-storied building collapsed in Palakkad on Thursday.

Five people, who were rescued from the site and rushed to a hospital, are said to be in a very critical condition.

First hand reports from the site said that the building that comprised hotel Sarovar collapsed while repair works were under way. The rescue operations are being carried out by police and fire and rescue personnel.

The collapsed building houses several shops and is said to be too old.
