The UDF has demanded that a tribunal should be set up in order to conduct the relief measures in the state after the severe floods. The UDF also said that the disaster relief funds should be deposited in specific bank accounts.
The opposition has also alleged that the CPIM is trying to hijack the relief camps in order to own the relief materials. The UDF’s demand comes on the heels of the relief measures after the deadly cyclone Ockhi that wreaked havoc in the state last year. Including the central aid, Kerala had received a relief fund of RS 234 crore after Ockhi from which only 25 crore was spent, the opposition alleged.
The UDF leaders also said that they are sticking to their claim that the flood occurred due to the mismanagement of the dams in the state.
