Received threat calls; Writer and Dalit activist Kancha Ilaiah files police complaint
After allegedly getting threat calls from unknown numbers, Dalit writer and activist Kancha Ilaiah has lodged a complaint at Hyderabad’s Osmaniya University police station on Monday. Kancha Ilaiah claimed that he had been receiving threat calls since Sunday afternoon and callers threatened to cut his tongue off.
In the complaint filed to the station house officer of Osmaniya University police station, Kancha Ilaiah said, “Since yesterday onwards many unknown phone calls kept coming from 3:50 am onwards continuously when I lift they were talking rudely. The international Arya-Vysya Sangham headed by Mr. Ramkrishna condemned me on TV channel and someone threatened to cut my tongue off”.
Earlier, the Arya-Vysya Sangham had raised allegations against Ilaiah’s book ‘Samajika Smagaluru Kolathollu’. The leaders had accused the book of hurting their sentiments. They also had burnt the effigies of Kancha Ilaiah in the protest programs against his book. They also have demanded the book to be withdrawn.
